After our school visit and volunteer activity we hit the mall. There was 1 cafe, and a few small individually owned shops. 2 grocers and the 2nd floor had a UNICLO store, similar to a gap with t-shirts and undergarments, some nice linen and cotton scarves for 720¥ but they were made in China so I didn't buy them.
I had passed a store with small bowls and tea cups. Some items were pricey in the upwards of ¥3,000 - that's $30 per bowl or plate. 1 pair of individually wrapped plastic Hashee (chopsticks) were ¥525, nearly $6. This small shop did have less expensive bowls and some for ¥100 just like a 100¥ store. I'd rather by here to help support the locals like our guide during the Tsunami tour said.
We stopped at the stations Peace Bell to all ring it, then we found a taxi. Miki had me ask for the taxi driver directly to take us too: "Hotelooo Sun Root Oh oneaguyshemas." She didn't approach the driver after me, I was so proud to say it by myself!! And we ended up here. Ironically the taxi driver didn't say thank you or goisaymas. But Mikisan thinks he was shy. Taxi ride cost ¥580 ($6 US) for a 15 block ride.
The taxi to the school across town was ¥580. Then back to temporary housing was ¥1,080 ($11us). So it's a
Little pricey with the high exchange rate.
