Day 6: Shinkansen & Lunch, Bullet Train Arrival in Kyoto

Kyoto - home of the Geisha, shogun castles and Shinto temple. Today we will go on a tour of Kyoto. Upon arrival Our first stop is Musasushi Stop a sushi station with serve yourself revolving sushi belt.

Sushi to go...

The procedure: you wait in line, and continue move down the sitting bench to keep the line flowing. Take a napkin to wash your hands. Prepare your soy sauce and ginger (to cleanse the palate in between bites). The blue plates have wasabi in the sushi, the color ones don't. As the plates pass, there's a sign with a picture of the sushi and its name in English and Japanese. Each plate costs ¥137, about $1.40 US for two pieces of sushi!!!! Hello el CHEAPO!!! But delicious!!

Panoramic picture of the restaurant.

Nine chefs are working constantly making there assigned plates.

Get a servers attention if you want something other then hot green tea. When your finished you say to a server "Onaguyshemas" which is like please I'm done (in this setting). They mark how many plates you had, drinks, an you go up to pay.

Top left of the photo is soy sauce regular and sweet. Yellow seaweed sushi is cod and its eggs (caviar), and the white with red rim is octopus. 5 plates - 10 pieces so far...

My favorite and today's special is Tuna!! The 2nd seaweed roll is ice fish, it's the dried fish also served with rice snacks and in our photos grocery shopping in Hiroshima.

Happy travels!
