Our Kyoto bus tour took us to a 2nd shrine, with strict no indoor photography rules. The monks feel that if you take a picture, and then after enjoying it for a lifetime it gets thrown away, it's like throwing away the dietyies.
Take off your shoes. Walk in bare feet or socks, or bring your own slippers.
The gift store has postcard photos of the dietyies inside. I guess these postcard photos can be thrown away?
Kyoto Market - 1st shop up the stairs
Kyoto still is an area that holds true to the tradition of the kimono and some geisha. We saw many youth wearing women's and men's kimonos.
