Pre-Day 1: Trying to Avoid Jet Lag to Japan: can you say 3:am bedtime

I don't know if it was from sheer excitement or stupidity, but I stayed up last night until 3:00 am. Our flight is at 11:30 am. So I plan to sleep on the first part of the flight and wake up at our destinations morning time.... That means I'll be waking up at 5:00 pm flight time (CST). Which will be 7:00 am Tuesday in Tokyo, 14 hours ahead.

This experiment will either put me waaaaayyyy ahead of the game when we land. Or I'll be a zombie for two days (or more) in a row.

Update: 9 hours into the flight. I fell asleep and Husband woke me up for
Lunch! I explained that I needed to sleep. So we ate and then I couldn't fall back asleep so I took a 500 mcg Melatonin. So nice, drifted off to sleep as I was advised. But I only slept until 5:00 pm CST, so I have a total of 3-4 hours sleep. Conveniently after lunch the lights go d and everyone naps! And the lights stay d until the snack just before landing.
