After 5 is a term you will here alot from the Japanese business men, who enjoy having drinks after 5:00 pm. They are very serious on the train and during there commutes. But they are silly and more relaxed after 5.
Along with "After 5" is "last train" concerns. When you are out enjoying the bars, friends, dinner or Kah-Rah-Oke you don't want to miss the last train out of the town to get home. Trains generally do not run 24 hours a day. The "last train" is 11:00 pm or midnight. If you miss your train plan to party into the weeee hours and ten catch your sleep at the train station, or on the street.
The Japanese are so polite and wait in line, single file. Everywhere single file. When you enter a restaurant or a convenient store ALL the employees greet you as you walk in with a general welcome or Onaguyshemas. In Shin Yokohama it was several greetings. Also when Japanese say good by its done by all employees, and if you say Arigato Goysaimas, the employees will repeat it so they are the last ones to say it.
Japanese walk slowly when going upstairs. Almost intentionally one stair at a time. It's because there's a lot of stairs, so don't wear yourself out before you get to where your going - up or down.
