Traveling to Japan: Upload Pictures to Snapfish from IPhone

Project Fail.

While we had a portable wireless router with us through the trip in Japan, and access to the hotels wifi, uploading pics to snapfish.com so I could clear my iphone5 of photos didn't work. I wanted a dual purpose upload option. clearing. IPhone o pictures while on a
1. website with an app for easy uploads and
2. where I could order my uploads pictures.

Project Fail, Fail, Fail, via Snapfish.com

In Shin-Yokohama I WAS able to upload with hotel wifi. After that there was an issue connecting in all the hotels to wifi for Skype, uploads, etc. And our wireless router was in and out on its signal strength based on the area we were in (urban or rural). The desk clerk in Kamaishi on Day 10 of the trip said the hotel wifi had trouble for iPads and iPhones. I don't know why, but it was helpful to know considering our frustrations over the last 10 days!!! Look, I can't figure out where a bathroom is in Japan (let along us one with all the instructions) and you want me to talk technology with a hotel desk clerk. He giggles when we say good morning and good night, not happening!

However, mid at thru the trip I caved and turned on my photo stream thru iCloud for iPhone. I didn't know there's a separate feature to share the photos, which I didn't want just anyone accessing my pics. So photo stream looks like a nice option. New pictures that I snapped were instantly uploaded when I had an active wireless connection via the hotels or our wireless router.

I did NOT have my cellular data turned on... The charged would be exorbitant - and AT&T charged upwards of $100 for data and calling. No thanks! I didn't need that much access (see our Skype post, we paid $15 for unlimited calls and texting).

Upon arrival at home, snappish.com continues to be a bad idea. We have hi-speed Internet at home but my 654 pictures on snapfish take a long time to load 25 at a time. And when I selected a few to delete, the page loads from the beginning and I have to wait for the 25 pics at a time to load again.

As for saving pictures to my desktop from snapfish is also burdensome. Ou can only select and download 50 pics at a time. Then snapfish sends you the email to click their link and download the 50 pics. However I have 12 emails. And each link it TITLED the same!!

Other Snapfish Snafus:

- All my pictures during the uploads were renamed "Asset."
- I didn't have an option via the app to change picture tags.
- And on Snapfish you can not change tags on one picture at a time.

As for iCloud streaming pictures is turning out to be a great option. Husband and I both had our photo stream on and it's so   easy to access our pictures on my PC. Once you download the iCloud control panel and set up the photo stream pictures load to a desktop folder, you can copy and paste the pics to a permanent folder. iCloud has a "rolling" picture system - read more here. I will have to manually upload those to a photo website for ordering, but the hassle of downloading my Snapfish.com pics (an its a hassle for this Tech smart chick), to my PC isn't worth it. Do you remember the days of dial up? So I should just erase this post because all my hassles are waaayyyy faster then dial up (silver lining).

Happy travels!
